Common Household Items That Can Be Used To Clean Up An "Oil Spill":

Kitty litter, corncobs, and laundry lint work especially well to clean up an oil spill. Dawn dish detergent works just like a dispersant (it helps break down the oil into smaller droplets, which then break down naturally. Other items to try: cotton, feathers, nylon, Dawn dish detergent, newspapers, towels, and sponges.

REMEMBER, just like the oil spill responders who actually go out to cleanup an oil spill, you have to be careful that you are picking up only oil, and not the water. If you soak up too much water, then you won’t have any room left to soak up the oil!
